Welcome to the new digital home of the Michigan Conference
After a year of research, development, coding and creating, we are pleased to welcome you to our new online home for the Michigan Conference. We interviewed more than 200 clergy, laity, staff and others to learn what you needed and wanted to support ministry in the local church and in communities. This is a new model, a Content Management System. CMS that works differently than a website. Our old site had more than 20,000 pages of often old and outdated content. Our new CMS system fits into less than a tenth of the size and will change daily. It is an online resource news network for ministry with the latest resources to inspire and support your work.
Our new CMS system is a work in progress. Because everyone searches a site differently, you can help us improve our online home by letting us know when you have difficultly finding information or resources. We invite you to use the HELP tab on the side of this page to email us when you see a better way to deliver information to your computer. We are also utilizing a new service that will check our site for ADA compliance and efficiencies. We hope you enjoy our new online presence and welcome your comments, ideas and questions. Now, go forth and explore!
Copper Country still digging out from flood
The Michigan Conference’s Early Response Team traveled to Houghton a week after torrential rains caused flash flooding in the Keweenaw area of the western Upper Peninsula.
One hundred UMCOR Cleaning Buckets were delivered and the Brighton United Methodist Church’s Early Response Team trailer was left with the Rev. Scott Lindenberg, pastor of Hancock.
Where have all the pastors gone?
July 1 marked the beginning of a new season of ministry. Here’s the 2018 appointment list.
Some pastors and congregations continue together for a new year of making disciples and transforming the world. Other pastors have moved and congregations are welcoming them to mission and ministry together. And all are moving forward in a new district as of July 1.
Learning to have difficult conversations
While most of us like to think of the opinions we hold as well-supported, well-considered and well-argued, we would also do well to acknowledge that in many of the most important things we think about, there is always room for growth and new learning. Bishop David Bard invites you in to learn to have difficult conversations as we Weave Our Future in the Michigan Conference.
