Your church can create a listening session about issues going to the 2019 General Conference. A Tool Box is available for your use.
A web site — A Way Forward — is available on michiganumc.org. It is designed to provide a wealth of information about the Special Called Session of the General Conference that will take place February 23-26, 2019 in St. Louis, MO.
Bishop David Bard has stated, “While most of us like to think of the opinions we hold as well-supported, well-considered and well-argued, we would also do well to acknowledge that in many of the most important things we think about, there is always room for growth and new learning. Often well-considered, well-supported and well-argued opinions become so through shared conversation and dialogue. We should, then, be people who are open to new ideas, to new ways of looking at our lives and our faith, open to conversation and dialogue.”
In that spirit, Bishop David invites the clergy and laity of The Michigan Conference into a continuing dialog.

Elsewhere in the news we feature preparations being made by Michigan delegates, Nichea Ver Veer Guy and the Rev. Dr. Charles Boayue. In January we will share comments from Jackie Euper and the Rev. Kennetha Bigham-Tsai. Guy and Bigham-Tsai were the lay and clergy delegates by The West Michigan Conference. Boayue and Euper were the clergy and lay delegates elected by The Detroit Conference. The delegates are now meeting as one Michigan Conference Delegation.
