Dawn Levey, Central Bay District Co-Lay Leader, encourages recent graduates to trust God as they step into a time of change and growth and invites the Michigan Conference to do the same.

As I write this message, it is a time of new beginnings and times of change. May and June are months of celebrations for our young adults who are beginning a new journey in their lives. High school and college graduates are preparing for new opportunities and celebrating great accomplishments.
To you, those graduating, walk across that stage and accept the hard-earned document representing “you’ve made it.” As you move forward and take flight, make choices that will bring you joy and fulfillment. Reach out to God for guidance and affirmation of those choices. Trust God’s promise: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:31, NIV). It is your time to soar. Congratulations!
This is also a time for our churches to embrace the decisions made at the recent General Conference and last week’s Michigan Annual Conference. As a church community, we can use this as a time of opportunity to remember the United Methodist tagline: Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors. We, too, can soar together on wings like an eagle. God will guide us through the healing process, and we must trust Him to lead us through this time of change and growth.
