AC 2021 offering will change lives

HAPI to receive 45% of conference offering

There is no actual offering plate at a virtual annual conference. However, Michigan United Methodists are invited to make contributions that will support our covenant partners in Haiti and Liberia.

The traditional opening worship offering at the 2021 Annual Conference will again benefit Michigan’s covenant partners, The Methodist Church of Haiti and The Liberia Annual Conference. Each will receive 45% of the total gifts. A 10% tithe of the offering will relieve child hunger and food insecurity in Michigan as recommended by Bishop David Bard. A Faith in Action Day on June 6 will also be added to the support for the initiative for child hunger relief.

Haitian Assets for Peace International (Advance #3020490) will receive the Haiti portion of the offering. The Michigan Haiti Covenant Partnership invites support for this work in Mizak in South Central Haiti. HAPI empowers women and girls by providing health services, maternity care, and vocational training to alleviate poverty and save lives.

Liberia’s share of the funds will go to the Bishop Judith Craig Children’s Village (Advance #11820A). These dollars will provide basic needs, education, counseling, and healthcare to orphaned children. In lieu of providing materials to be shipped to these locations, we ask you to consider sending additional funds for immediate relief.

The tithe for Child Hunger Relief will be distributed to all districts in Michigan through agencies that work specifically with child hunger relief. These include Blessings in a Backpack, Weekend Survival Kits, and Gleaner’s Food Bank of Southeast Michigan’s summer program, Meet Up and Eat Up.
