AC 2020 to be rescheduled

AC Commission rescheduled 2020 session

The 2020 Michigan Annual Conference has been postponed and registration has been suspended. The session will be rescheduled soon. Here’s what to do now according to AC planners.

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord.

On behalf of the Commission on the Annual Conference Session, we extend our prayers that you and your community are safe, well, and sheltering at home. After reviewing the latest CDC projections, Federal and State Government guidelines and speaking to our own health professionals, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 Annual Conference in May.

What do I need to do now?
All Grand Traverse Resort reservations have been placed on hold, including any extended stays. If your accommodations are off-property you need to cancel them.  For those with reservations at the Grand Traverse Resort, your place in line will be held until a decision is made on new dates.

When will AC be held?
The Commission is working daily to assess new dates that will allow us to host the Annual Conference that assures safety for our members.  We are aware of the many complex issues that surround this decision for retirees, those to be ordained and commissioned, memorial families, and others. The Commission continues to work with the Bishop’s Office, the Full Cabinet, the Lay Leaders, Board of Ministry, and Council on Finance and Administration in sorting through these complex questions.  Information will be shared in as timely a manner as possible.

Will my registration be refunded?
We want to make this as easy on you as possible, with as few steps as necessary. Once we know when and where the Annual Conference will be held, a process to amend registration will be announced. Please do not contact the Conference Registrar. She is not authorized and unable to make refunds until after the Commission on the Annual Conference Session finalizes their new plan.

Updates will be posted at 2020.michiganumc.org. You will also receive an email as soon as decisions are finalized. We appreciate your grace and patience while we discern the best path forward during this rapidly changing time. We pray that you and your community remain safe and well.

Yours in Christ,

The Commission on the Annual Conference Session
