Annual statistics from local United Methodist churches related to membership, attendance, and finances are due February 2.
The end-of-year Local Church Statistical Report to the Annual Conference is a yearly responsibility of the local church according to The Book of Discipline, ¶606.7. This online data submission process is required of every chartered church and is overseen by the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA).
The online portal used for uploading this data is now open and will close on February 2, 2024. United Methodist churches that closed or disaffiliated in 2023 still have access to the website and must complete this report one final time.
Churches disaffiliating as of December 31, 2023, have been operating as United Methodist churches for the entire year and, therefore, must complete the 2023 statistical report. As a reminder, disaffiliating churches should not include any expenses on Table 2 that are directly related to or fulfill financial requirements for disaffiliation, including any payment of back Ministry Shares. Report operating expenses as it was done in previous years.
Churches that closed during 2023 for reasons other than disaffiliation should also report their statistics, for whatever part of the year they remained in operation. At the very least, GCFA wants to see membership transferred out using the appropriate lines on Table 1, resulting in a zero on Line 4.
