Thirty-nine persons (20 clergy and 19 laity) have been nominated as delegates to the 2020 General Conference. Meet them here.
The 2020 General Conference will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, May 5-15 next year. The Michigan Conference will send eight delegates to that session, four clergy and four laity.
Those persons will be elected at the 2019 session of the Michigan Annual Conference held May 30-June 2 in Acme, Michigan.
Before the nominations were closed on February 15, 2019, 20 Michigan clergy and 19 laypersons were nominated as possible delegates to General Conference 2020. Click here to find their names, photos and biographies.
After four clergy and four laity are elected to General Conference, the next four clergy and next four laity receiving the highest number of votes will serve as Reserve Delegates to General Conference. They will also be voting delegates at the North Central Jurisdictional conference in Fort Wayne, Indiana, July 15-18, 2020. Following this election two additional clergy and two additional laypersons will be elected as Reserve NCJ delegates.
It will be possible to nominate clergy and laity from the floor at the 2019 Annual Conference. That nomination process is explained here.
