Living Easter every day

Man greets a woman in memory care.

“Easter is more than a one-day celebration,” says Bishop Kenneth L. Carder. He faces daily life with a resurrection spirit.

Bishop Kenneth L. Carder, 75, once served as the spiritual leader of United Methodists in Tennessee and Mississippi. When he retired in 2004, Bishop Carder joined the faculty of Duke Divinity School. He left the school in 2011 to care for his wife, Linda, who was living with dementia. Today, Bishop Carder lives in a retirement home across the street from the memory care unit where Linda now resides.

Everyday Ken Carder shares his resurrection spirit with Linda and the 40 other residents at Bethany. “It is one of the most profound and richest experiences of my life,” he says.

In this Easter meditation from his blog, “Shifting Margins,” Bishop Carder talks about how to live, like a winner, with God.
