It’s time for the church to “put our focus back on what matters most — Jesus and relationships.”
Andrea Syverson recently posed a challenging question in a feature for Religion News Service: “Will we step up and build communities that meet their needs, or will we let Facebook fill that void for us?”
The feature began by citing Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, who laid out his vision at a recent rally of Facebook users. “As the website reaches two billion users, Zuckerberg is turning his attention to the next frontier – building online communities.”
Syverson continued, “In Zuckerberg’s mind, the days of institutions like ‘churches and Little Leagues’ are over. Using Facebook’s new artificial intelligence software, the social media giant can organize its users into groups that will serve the same purpose.”
