United Methodists in Northern Michigan may meet Bishop David Bard in Indian River this Sunday .
Getting to know the state –its regions, its gifts…its people – has been a priority for Bishop David Bard ever since he arrived in Michigan on September 1.
Official welcome events have been held in Waterford and Kalamazoo and now he will be at Indian River United Methodist Church, 956 Eagles Nest Road, Indian River, MI, on October 23, 3 pm.
Bishop Bard will preach, “On the Road Again,” a sermon that celebrates his new journey in The Michigan Area. A reception follows worship.
Prior to election at the North Central Jurisdictional Conference in July, the Rev. Dr. David Bard had been serving at First United Methodist Church in Duluth, Minnesota since 2005. Bishop Bard received a BA from the University of Minnesota, Duluth in 1981; his Master of Divinity was earned at United Theological Seminary, Twin Cities 1984; and in 1994 he received a Ph.D. from Southern Methodist University with a focus on Christian ethics.
