As political platforms dominate the news, one pastor suggests a way to keep “closer to Jesus.”
“Being a Christian during this political season begins with repentance,” says Dr. James C. Howell. He then suggests taking a breath and saying a prayer, Lord, I confess that the very thing that drives me crazy in the other guy has strangled me, too. Forgive me, heal me. Heal all of us.
Howell has been senior pastor of Myers Park United Methodist Church since 2003, and is an adjunct professor of preaching at Duke Divinity School.
