Got some time to give? Volunteer!

Time to volunteer! Making sandwiches at NOAH Project

“Love your neighbor as yourself.” Let those words of Jesus inspire you to invest time that will make a difference in the lives of others.

Have some time for volunteer service but don’t know where to start? Here are some places that would welcome your helping hands and caring heart.

Check out the VIM Volunteers in Michigan page on this website. Michigan VIM Coordinator, Jody Pratt, is ready to assist both individuals and teams. VIM-Michigan pairs service opportunities that match your skills and mission needs with the right training to make your ministry a success.  THere are short term local mission opportunities and international projects.

UMVIM-NCJ  is a regional agency (NCJ stands for North Central Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church) that facilitates joining people’s desire to volunteer with projects across the country. Take a look at their U.S. Project List.

For something more long-term learn about Mission Volunteers, an opportunity organized by the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. Mission Volunteers are individuals or couples (ages 18 and up), who would like to be in partnership with communities around the world. Mission Volunteer experiences are diverse and range from working with refugees, children, and youth, serving as a teacher, pastor, camp director, or health care professional. The length of service ranges from two months to more than two years.

Closer to home, there are projects all over the state that welcome volunteers. EngageMI is the mission engagement program of The Michigan Conference. EngageMI is based on the idea that mission is about more than dollars. Read through the list of Michigan Ministry Partners and begin to Learn – Give -Act. Become and advocate or volunteer somewhere where your feet, your bike, or your car might take you.
