United Methodist Communications hosted the Pre-General Conference Briefing, a time of preparation for General Conference, on January 20-22 in Portland, Oregon.
The purpose of the briefing was to inform delegates, journalists, and other interested parties about topics that will be considered by the denomination’s legislative body when it meets May 10-20 in Portland.

General Conference is the top policy-making body of The United Methodist Church which meets once every four years. The conference can revise church law, as well as adopt resolutions on current moral, social, public policy and economic issues. It also approves plans and budgets for church-wide programs.
