Videos preview General Conference

United Methodist Communications hosted the Pre-General Conference Briefing, a time of preparation for General Conference, on January 20-22 in Portland, Oregon.

The purpose of the briefing was to inform delegates, journalists, and other interested parties about topics that will be considered by the denomination’s legislative body when it meets May 10-20 in Portland.

The sessions were videotaped and are available here. Click the upper left corner of the screen for a drop-down playlist. Choose from among 19 segments, ranging in topic from proposed changes for clergy and bishops (#6) to a new cloud-based hymnal (#17).

Segment #15, A Conversation on Human Sexuality, features the Rev. Kennetha Bigham-Tsai as one of four panelists.

General Conference is the top policy-making body of The United Methodist Church which meets once every four years. The conference can revise church law, as well as adopt resolutions on current moral, social, public policy and economic issues. It also approves plans and budgets for church-wide programs.
