Online registration begins September 30 for the next class of Global Mission Fellows, young adults in mission.

On Friday, September 30, 2016, the Generation Transformation – Global Mission Fellow application will be available online. Generation Transformation is an initiative of The United Methodist Church, administered through the General Board of Global Ministries. The Generation Transformation initiative was created to provide Christian young adults with significant leadership development, spiritual and personal growth opportunities.
Michigan has been blessed and has been a blessing through the Global Mission Fellow initiative (formerly US-2 and Mission Intern programs).
Over the past six years 12 young people have left Michigan to serve in ministries of peace, justice and hope: Stephanie and Ash Norton (Haiti-Alabama); John Daniel Gore (Palestine-Washington, D.C.); Darlene Logston (Arizona); Kelly Schaefer (Japan-Wisconsin); Stephanie Plotas (Arizona); Allen Bower (New York); David Johnson (Washington, D.C.); Audra Hudson (Washington); Erin Frey (Florida); Victoria and Nicholas Stanford (Florida).
Another five US-2s have come to Michigan to lend their hearts and hands to important work with God's people in Detroit: Brandon Powell, Chelsea Spyres, Chelsea Williams and Isaac Dunn (NOAH Project) and Kayla Flannery (Northwest Detroit Flood Recovery Project).
Between now and March 31, 2017, the General Board of Global Ministries encourages other faith-filled young adults between the ages of 20–30 who have a passion for service, care about justice, to apply for service inn the 2017-2019 term. Fellows serve a two-year assignment to United Methodist churches, related organizations, and nonprofits in justice-focused ministries within the United States or in African, Asian, European, Latin American, and Caribbean nations. The young adults work as in a variety of roles dealing with issues around migration/immigration, homelessness, children and youth, education, environmental justice, and more.
“Global Ministries is committed to offering mission service opportunities for young people all around the globe,” says Judy Y. Chung, who leads missionary services. “As young people are mobilized to serve in mission, integrating faith and justice, the movement will inspire and transform the world.”
The online application period extends from September 30, 2016 through March 31, 2017. Applicants interested in learning more about the program, the type of work available, as well as the location of potential placement sites can join a web-based informational session by registering at www.umcmission.org/gt. By joining the session, participants will hear from Global Mission Fellow alumni as well as additional information that is useful to the discernment process. Upcoming sessions are scheduled for October 11, November 16, and December 14.
