Bill White, co-founder of 5Loaves2Fish Northern Michigan, is one of three home missioners featured in an online event about this ministry path for laity.
Don’t miss the opportunity to attend the Voices from the Field online event on December 5, 2023, and learn more about the work of the Office of Deaconess and Home Missioner, administered by United Women in Faith. This is a ministry path of lifetime service for laywomen and laymen in The United Methodist Church. During the event, hear how three home missioners are living out their calls to love, justice, and service.
Bill White, the only active home missioner in the Michigan Conference, will be one of the guest speakers during the “Love, Justice, Service: Home Missioners in Ministry” event on Tuesday, December 5, at 7:30 pm Eastern / 6:30 pm Central. The event will be virtual via Zoom, with an optional breakout session following the one-hour program.
Bill and his wife and ministry partner, Michelle, started 5Loves2Fish Northern Michigan at Leland Community UMC in March 2020 with a vision to feed people experiencing food insecurity and homelessness, no questions asked. As a retired social worker, Bill brings a heart for people and a passion for battling injustice.
During the Voices in the Field online event, Bill will be joined by two other laymen in service as home missioners:
-
- Jonah Ballesteros, North Texas Conference – Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Program Specialist for Richardson Independent School District. Ballesteros also actively seeks ways to cultivate community connections in the Philippines.
- Home Missioner Jeff Fuller, North Georgia Conference – Abundant Health Coordinator.
The quarterly Voices from the Field events feature leaders sharing their work and life stories, daily challenges, hopes, and dreams. This conversation series highlights United Women in Faith’s initiatives that significantly improve the lives of women, children, and youth down the block and around the world.
