James D. Weiss

September 10, 1930 – June 29, 2023

Rev. James Dewey Weiss, age 92, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 29, 2023, with family at his side. James was the beloved husband of Sara Ann Weiss for 71 years; Loving father of David Weiss (the late Lisa), Mary Crecelius (Scott), and John Weiss (Suzanne); Treasured grandfather of Amy Lewan (Phil), Tim Crecelius (Jessica), Stephen Weiss, Amanda Crecelius, and Kaitlyn Weiss; Cherished great-grandfather of James Lewan, Titus Crecelius, Natalie Lewan, and Thomas Lewan.

James was born on September 10, 1930 in Stockbridge, Michigan, to parents Dewey and Mary Weiss. James lived his life with commitment and dedication to others. He married Sara Ann Lindke on June 26, 1952. She was the love of his life, and they spent 71 happy years together. His eyes lit up whenever she walked into the room. Together they created a legacy of love with family, raising 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He adored his family and could spend endless time with them. James also was an active minister of the Detroit Conference of the United Methodist Church for many years, pastoring 13 churches over his career, and even in retirement remained as active as possible. Even in times of injury or illness, James remained dedicated to his faith and church community. He will be sorely missed.

A memorial service was held at Bridge Community Church in Troy with Pastor Randy Vinson officiating the service.

Memorial donations may be made out to Bridge Community Church, 5700 Rochester Road, Troy, MI 48085, for the Great Commission Fund.
