Rev. Dr. Ward N. Scovel Jr.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Rev. Dr. Ward N. Scovel, retired West Michigan Conference clergy who died on October 13, 2018, at the age of 82. 

Ward was Intuitive, metaphysical, perceptive and loving. A rebel with a cause for the underdog, and always willing to stand up for what he felt was right. He was fearless in sharing his truth. After working as a salesman for many years with Coats and Clarkes, God spoke to him and Ward re-directed his life to ministry. He entered seminary and became an ordained Methodist minister. He also earned his Ph.D. in Death and Dying.  Ward received the Peace Award from the West Michigan Conference. and he served as a hospice chaplain and co-creator and facilitator of Survivors of Suicide groups.

A memorial service to celebrate his life was held last weekend in Lake Wildwood, California.
