Almost two million families, including 552,000 children face food insecurity in Michigan. The 6th Annual Michigan Conference 5K will raise dollars for this good cause.
The 2021 Annual Conference 5K was AMAZING! A total of $54,396 was raised and distributed to feeding programs in every county in Michigan! And now we are about to be on the move again.
Why? Because despite the efforts of many dedicated organizations and agencies, food insecurity remains a serious problem in Michigan. Approximately 1.9 million Michiganders including 552,000 children face food insecurity. While we may not know the full impact of the pandemic on food insecurity, the lack of access and availability of food, poverty, job instability, food shortages and waste, nutritional quality, and other factors continue to affect people in Michigan.
The 6th Annual Michigan Conference 5K for Child Hunger Relief: Walk, Run, Ride or Wag will raise money to relieve child hunger and food insecurity in Michigan. Get in motion with friends, family, your pets, your church, and others! Each participant gets a t-shirt. Running hats and pet bandanas are available, too.
The good news is that 100% of your donation goes to feed hungry children. Generous sponsors have covered the cost of t-shirts for the first 650 registrants, so 100% of your registration fee will go to agencies that serve and work to relieve child hunger in all counties in the state.
Finish your 5K on your own time or join others at a timed event held on Wednesday, June 2, 11:00 am at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa in Traverse City. You can even finish the 5K on your couch with a donation!
