Nye, Mary Jo

Mary Jo Nye, 60, died suddenly Saturday evening, February 19, 2016 as a result of gun-related violence in Kalamazoo, MI.  She is survived by her fiancée, Rev. Lynn Wagner.

Mary Jo Nye was a life-long United Methodist and a member of Battle Creek Chapel Hill UMC. As a student at Western Michigan University, she was active with the Wesley Foundation of Kalamazoo, where she was known as the chief soup cook in the soup kitchen.  She was active at Battle Creek Chapel Hill since the early 2000’s, serving as Chair of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and most recently the Administrative Council. She was also mostly recently involved serving on the Episcopacy Committee.

A memorial service for Mary Jo Nye will be held on Sunday, February 28 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church at 157 Chapel Hill Drive, Battle Creek, MI.  The family has requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Mary Jo’s name to Chapel Hill UMC.
