Rev. Allen J. Lewis died Thursday, Jan. 1 2015, at the Chelsea Retirement Community at age 97.  His wife, Kathleen (Thurman) Lewis predeceased him April 1999.

Rev. Lewis served in the following appointments in the West Michigan Conference and Detroit Conference: He served in the Michigan Conf. of the Evangelical Church and the Michigan Conf. of the E.U.B. prior to 1968. He served the Woodland Evangelical/EUB [now Lakewood UMC] 1945 -49, Grand Rapids Hope [closed 1960’s] 1949-52, Fremont, IN & East Gilead, MI [closed] 1952-55, Maple Hill [now Heritage UMC] 1955-62 & Turk Lake 1955-61, and Snover/Moore [now Heritage UMC] 1962-69. He served Omard /Flynn UMC parish for seven years in the 1970’s and Lapeer Trinity UMC for three years in the 1980’s.

A memorial service will be held at the Main Chapel of the Chelsea Retirement Community, 805 W. Middle Street, Chelsea MI 48118 on Saturday Jan. 10, 2015 at 1:30p.m. Reception to follow in Dancey House next door.  Arrangements are being handled by the Staffan-Mitchell & Caskey-Mitchell Funeral home in Chelsea, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chelsea Retirement Community.
