Bishop David Bard announces the appointment of the Rev. Kristi Hintz as the next superintendent of the Northern Skies District, effective July 1, 2025.
Bishop David Bard has announced to the Michigan Conference the appointment of the Rev. Kristi Hintz as superintendent of the Northern Skies District, effective July 1, 2025. Rev. Hintz currently serves as co-pastor of Marquette: Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Christopher Hintz. Marquette: Hope is a four-campus multisite church in the Marquette area. She has been serving in this appointment since 2014. She will follow the Rev. Scott Harmon as superintendent. Rev. Harmon has served a maximum of eight consecutive years as a district superintendent and will receive another appointment effective July 1.
In making this appointment, Bishop Bard said, “I am delighted to have Kristi join the cabinet and become superintendent of the Northern Skies District. She has a deep and thoughtful faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate desire to see the church be its best. She brings to the position of superintendency a compassionate pastoral heart, a concern for the church to be engaged in the world, wonderful creativity, and a love of northern Michigan. She has held various leadership positions in the Michigan Conference, including serving on the Board of Justice and being the chairperson of the District Committee on the Superintendency. In her appointment in Marquette, she helped lead significant change as she worked with Christopher to develop a multisite church. She will be a wonderful addition to the cabinet team.”
Bishop Bard continued, “Making a new appointment to the cabinet is always a joy, and it also always means a loss. The Rev. Scott Harmon was the first person I asked to become a district superintendent after being assigned to the Michigan Area. His ministry among us has been deeply appreciated. He has served both the Michigan Conference and the Northern Skies District, and its predecessors, with integrity, intelligence, joy, a deep faith, a deep love for the church, and an appreciation of the unique setting of each congregation in northern Michigan. His cabinet colleagues and I will miss him.”
