ABOUT THE ADDRESS
The United Methodist Young People’s Address is an opportunity for youth and young adults to witness boldly about the church’s impact in their lives and to cast their vision for our future work together as Christ’s body. At General Conference 2016 young people will take the stage to share their best ideas with that global gathering, and we’ll feature more UMCyoung people’s best ideas as they emerge through this process.
Through globalyoungpeople.org/gcyp young people can submit their best stories, visions, and innovations to share with the church.
We invite youth and young adults (ages 12 to 35) to respond to the following focus questions via YouTube, Vimeo, or in the text of an email. Once submitted all ideas will be reviewed, considered for inclusion in the Young People’s Address at General Conference, and possibly reposted to our social media streams.
SUBMIT YOUR IDEA!
1. First, consider the following focus questions:
a. Tell us your best idea for sharing the good news about Jesus, and for seeking out and welcoming people into the church.
b. Who is an inspiring leader in your life who has called you and others to commit your lives to Jesus Christ?
c. What communities stand out in your experience as particularly nurturing of people in Christian living through worship, baptism, communion, prayer, fasting, study, social action and more?
d. How would you send persons into the world to live lovingly and justly as servants of Christ by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, caring for the stranger, freeing the oppressed, being and becoming a compassionate caring presence, and working to develop social structures that are consistent with the gospel?
2. Then record your responses (1-2 minutes each) to one or more of these questions on Youtube, Vimeo or other online video service. Submissions via text in emails or SMS will also be considered.
3. Then visit globalyoungpeople.org/gcyp and send us your ideas via the “Submit Content” link.
