Drive goes global

The Michigan Area Haiti Task Force and the Drive Ministry of the Ames United Methodist Church are pleased to announce a new partnership!  Drive is a computer recycling ministry of the youth of Ames United Methodist Church in Saginaw.

Computers are donated to Drive, where the youth remove all that has been stored on the hard drive, update the operating systems to current standards, and in some cases, add needed memory.

The partnership between the MAHTF and Drive is unique, as the computers which Drive will be supplying will be laptop computers only.  Since the computers will be carried in to Haiti by Volunteer in Mission teams, laptops will lend themselves to transporting much easier than desktops and monitors.

Mr. Keith Thomas of East Lansing, and his team of missionaries will be taking the first three laptops Drive was able to ready for new uses in Haiti.  Keith and his team will take the computers into the Cap Haitien area of Haiti yet this fall.

Since there are teams from Michigan traveling to virtually all parts of Haiti, the hope of the MAHTF is to share these recycled laptop computers in many areas, blessing the ministries of schools, clinics, and churches.

On October 7 Jesse Karls reported on Facebook that, "The Drive Ministry at Ames just gave away its 252nd computer in 2015! This exactly matches the record-setting computer give-away total from 2014."
