The Rev. Dan R. Dick writes the blog “United Methodeviations.” Dan calls himself “an advocate for a more loving, inclusive church for the 21st century and beyond.”
At present Dan serves as the clergy assistant to the resident bishop of the Wisconsin Area of The United Methodist Church.
In a recent observation about the state of The United Methodist Church, Dan identifies “low expectations” as the most pressing need/critical issue facing the church. “We have instituted low expectations as a norm for over three generations and it hasn’t served us well,” he asserts. “And in recent times we have lowered the bar to the point where it has dented a groove in the foundation — I am afraid we cannot go any lower.”
He offers four illustrations of his point.
