Camp is not just a summer place. This Michigan United Methodist campground opened its doors to the community in December.
Crystal Springs Camp & Retreat opened its doors wide on December 15 to welcome 174 children and their families. In addition to visiting Santa, guests decorated (and ate) cookies together and painted an ornament to take home.
The highlight of the night was a special needs camper who came back to camp to see Santa. Tyler’s mom let Santa know that Tyler is deaf as he sat on Santa’s lap. Santa smiled, then signed “Merry Christmas” to Tyler.
As Tyler and Santa signed back and forth, Tyler cried out in excitement, which brought both his mom and Santa to tears. The crowd stopped to watch the interaction. It was a moment of Christmas magic.
