Acting Out in Frankenmuth

Frankenmuth United Methodist Church spent a Sunday outside the sanctuary worshipping with love in action.

The Frankenmuth United Methodist Church (Saginaw Bay District) held its first congregational “Act Out” community service day on August 14, 2016.

The Mission Team invited the congregation to take a day to act out as God’s hands and feet in the community. A variety of service projects were developed and persons chose how to participate.

Sunday morning kicked off with a brief devotion inside the sanctuary, then God’s people “hit the streets.”

Projects included assembling school, layette, and health kits for UMCOR.  People also tyed fleece blankets for mission organizations, spruced up Frankenmuth Parks and built benches at the community tennis courts.

Other volunteers visited Frankenmuth care facility residents and gave hand massages, helped out at the Saginaw Rescue Mission, and tie-dyed t-shirts with girls at a local growth and recovery center.

Writing notes to missionaries and service people kept others involved.

Acting Out Sunday was incredibly successful. Participants returned energized and enthusiastic. There are plans to make Acting Out an annual event. The main lesson for the day … It is always a blessing to serve. Learn more about Acting Out Sunday on the church’s Facebook Page.
