Be ready to participate in the Michigan Conference Christmas Eve Social Media campaign by checking your online worship details now.
November 17, 2020 | LANSING — As churches move Advent and Christmas Eve Services online, due to the continued spread of COVID-19, the Michigan Conference is launching a unique social media campaign December 20-24. The campaign will offer Michiganders an invitation to participate in online Christmas Eve Services offered by local United Methodist churches.
“We know that Christmas Eve is one of the most important times of the year for churches to welcome new people.” Says Mark Doyal, Conference Director of Communications, “The goal of this campaign is to connect people with the celebrations of Christ’s birth being offered by local United Methodist churches.”
The first phase of the 5-day campaign will include targeted online Facebook ads leading up to Christmas Eve in all Michigan media markets. The paid posts will guide seekers to a conference webpage (https://michiganumc.org/online-church-by-city/) listing online Christmas Eve services organized by city. Doyal asks local churches to visit that page now to confirm that their link to online services is listed correctly and that the contact, email address, and phone number are all correct. Edits to this list can be made by sending an email with this information to [email protected].
The second phase of the campaign, December 23-24, will focus on capturing those using search engines to find Christmas Eve searches. Phrases entered into Google like “Christmas Eve Service” will result in findings that include the conference listing of Christmas Eve online services.
The conference continues to add more resources to the Advent-Christmas website to support local church online worship services. Local churches can download free Advent music, video bumpers for worship transitions, a children’s service for Dec. 24th, that can be customized by the local church, and other materials to help support online worship in December.
