Detroit UMW hold annual celebration

The Rev. Faith Green Timmons, pastor of Flint: Bethel United Methodist Church, will be the keynote speaker at the 42nd annual celebration of the United Methodist Women of the Detroit Conference. The gathering takes place Saturday, Oct. 24, at Ferndale 1st UMC.Registration begins at 8:30 am and the program runs from 10 am to 3 pm. Early bird registration (before Oct. 15) is $16/person. After that time the cost is $20/person. Child Care is available. Lunch is included but cannot be promised for those who do not pre-register.

The 2015 Ingathering Project will benefit the Methodist Children’s Home Society. Gifts will replace items lost in the flooding a year ago. For full information and a registration form, click here.

The theme of the day is, “To Develop a Creative Supportive, Fellowship.” Pastor Timmons started preaching at age 19 at William Tyndale College. Her ministerial experience includes pastoring, Christian education, inner city mission, and Christian broadcasting. She has served churches in Michigan, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. The congregations in the Detroit Conference include Holly: Calvary UMC, Detroit: Metropolitan UMC, and Southfield: Hope UMC in addition to Flint: Bethel.

Passionate in her pursuit of excellence, Pastor Timmons has served as Dean of the Michigan Area School for Pastoral Ministry and has written for Interpreter Magazine. She is known for effectiveness in multi-cultural and cross-cultural settings.
