Support Human Relations Day

Human Relations Day, January 14, funds community development and economic opportunity.

Turn on the news or drive around your town and you will find what Jesus called “the least of these:” those living in the margins of society, struggling to survive. Human Relations Day Sunday, on Jan. 14 or a date of your choice, is a chance for the denomination to come together to extend a helping hand to those in crisis so they can overcome obstacles.

Human Relations Day is less than six weeks away.

Human Relations Day is a day to celebrate everybody’s potential to do great things.

It’s a day to invest in at‑risk youth

It’s a day to empower those living in the margins of society.

In this video Vaughn Talley remembers the night he hit “rock bottom.” Talley was sleeping in an abandoned house in Little Rock, Arkansas and felt himself slipping away. Talley recalls praying with all the strength he had left and says his life changed that very moment with the help of a recovery program through Theressa Hoover United Methodist Church. Talley says seeing the church help other people he knows gave him the confidence that they could help him, too. “It wasn’t so much that I was believing that it would work for me but I believed it had worked for them.” Today, Talley remains sober and holds a full-time job.

There’s a library of resources that has everything needed to help congregations celebrate and give generously on Jan. 14, 2018. Worship resources, infographics, social media assets and videos are available to support your efforts to promote this important Sunday of giving.

You can see all the resources, from social media graphics to videos,  here.
