Hear Bishop Bard in Elkhart

Bishop David Bard will speak at Anabaptist Mennonite Seminary Chapel on March 24.

ELKHART, Indiana — Bishop David Alan Bard of the Michigan Area of The United Methodist Church will speak at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS), Elkhart, Indiana, during a chapel service on Friday, March 24.

Bishop Bard will use Psalm 34:1-10, Psalm 42:1-6a and Ezekiel 3:1-3 as the foundation for his message, “A person of taste.” The service will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Chapel of the Sermon on the Mount at 3003 Benham Avenue.

Bishop Bard is visiting AMBS to learn more about the partnership between AMBS and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (G-ETS) in Evanston, Illinois. Through this partnership, which has been endorsed by the UMC University Senate, United Methodist students who want to prepare for licensing can earn a Master of Divinity at AMBS, taking core United Methodist courses at G-ETS for 15 of the 80 required hours. In addition, G-ETS students can earn a peace studies certificate by taking selected courses at AMBS.

A native of Duluth, Minnesota, Bishop Bard has been a United Methodist pastor for more than 30 years. He served congregations in Roseau, Duluth and the state’s Iron Range region. From 1998 to 2005, he was the Northwest District Superintendent for The United Methodist Church in Minnesota. He represented the Minnesota Conference at five General Conferences and was elected to the episcopacy in 2016.
