Dakotas-Minnesota Area Bishop Bruce R. Ough asks these three questions as the U.S. Election Day draws near.
Bishop Bruce R. Ough remembers the day he participated in the installation service for Bishop John Hopkins’ installation service in October 2004. During his time to speak, Hopkins asked three questions:
Do you love Jesus? Do you love your neighbors? Are you registered to vote?
“The congregation responded with generous acclaim to the first two questions,” Ough recalls. “The third took them and me by surprise. … He went on to remind his new flock that as people of the Methodist Way, we are called to scriptural holiness, which has both personal and societal dimensions and expressions.”
