50 million Americans are hungry. Join the Society of St. Andrew in taking action during National Hunger Action Month.
More than 50 million people in the United States today are hungry or food insecure. Yet in this country, over 133 billion pounds of good food is thrown away every year. The Society of St. Andrew calls people of faith to take action—to say that this situation is unacceptable and to do something about it.
Plan now to make September 2016 a time to stand together against hunger, joining with the Society of St. Andrew to see that each person in this country has healthy, nourishing food to eat.
They have a variety of resources — Bible studies, children’s sermons, prayers, action calendars, newsletter and bulletin announcements — available here.
The Society of St. Andrew was formed in 1979 as an intentional community of two families called to life and ministry together in Christ. It has grown into an ecumenical, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to leading others into lives of Christian community and service.
Since their founding in 1979, the Society of St. Andrew has worked to fulfill the mandate of the Gospel by striving to adhere to the words of 1 John 3:18: Let us love not only in words, but in deed and in truth. They are recognized as an Advance Special of The United Methodist Church
