Michigan Area United Methodist Camping is looking for a full time director to serve Lake Michigan Camp and Retreat CenterPentwater) and Albright Park (Reed City).

Lake Michigan Camp and Retreat Center is located in Pentwater, Michigan, and is ready to launch into a new level of ministry. Nestled along one half-mile of Lake Michigan beachfront, this camp and campground combination is ripe with opportunities for growth. Our summer on-site youth camps bring faith and fun into the lives of all who attend, and our campground hosts individual campers, families, family reunions, and church family camps. We strive to provide a place for individuals and families to spend time together and with Christ in order to strengthen their families and their faith.

Albright Park Camp and Retreat Center is a quaint camp, filled with cottages, cabins and a bunk house along the Hersey River in Reed City, Michigan. Those who visit appreciate how Albright Park provides opportunities for families and churches to spend quality time together and strengthen their faith. Albright Park is available for lease by the day or week for families, churches, and groups.
The successful candidate will be a part of a dedicated, faith-based team. The mission of the Michigan Area United Methodist Camping Board is to extend, enhance, and enable our congregations in the task of making disciples of Jesus Christ. We are looking for someone who will embrace this mission.

Position Description: We seek an experienced director who can supervise staff (both paid and volunteer), provide hospitality to multiple and diverse groups, manage facility maintenance and upgrades, and oversee the budget and operations. In cooperation with the Board and the Executive Director, the Director will grow our volunteer base, build ministry partnerships with our United Methodist Churches, assist with short- and long-range planning. The Director works under the supervision of the Executive Director.

The position requires a person who possesses an evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the organization’s goals. The ideal candidate will be fluent in verbal, written and electronic communication skills, business acumen, previous program leadership, and development experience preferably in a Christian camp and retreat ministry setting.

The qualified candidate maintains a viable and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and exemplifies that relationship in daily life. He/She will work well with others, be self-motivated, anticipate the needs of guests and staff, have the ability to multi-task, interact extremely well with the public and exhibit entrepreneurial enthusiasm.

This is a full-time, year-round management position, eligible for the camp’s benefit package, including salary, health insurance, 401(k), meals when being served, onsite housing and paid vacation.
