The Michigan Area Committee on Hispanic-Latino Ministries encourages congregations to participate in the Who is My Neighbor? Challenge.
This six-week Spanish Language Study prepares churches for hospitality, ministry, and future mission trips. Participation encourages openness toward Spanish-speaking neighbors, understanding of different cultures, and compassion for those who struggle to learn English.
The classes are arranged in the local setting by the churches that sign up.
Schedule and details like class size are determined by the church; Sunday morning, weekday evening, whatever fits the calendar. Who is My Neighbor is a good choice for a Lenten Study. Churches are responsible to purchase the teacher’s guide and study books, available from Cokesbury. Student books are $6.69 each; the Teacher’s Manual is $8.03.
Grants of $100 are available to the first ten churches/groups to respond (limited to the United Methodist churches in the Michigan Area).
Sign up by email to Sonya Luna, Director of Hispanic-Latino Ministries at [email protected] or phone 313-228-5384.
