Learn how to transform your church’s social media into vibrant channels of communication through this new course from United Methodist Communications. Register by July 27.
Revitalize Your Church’s Social Media, a new facilitated course from United Methodist Communications, will help local churches to reconsider social media through a strategic lens. Participants will build a social media plan and discover fresh ways to engage their audiences while balancing legal and ethical concerns.
The four-week training will be held July 31 through August 25, 2023. Registration for the course is available online through July 27, 2023. Space is limited.
Throughout the course, content will be delivered through a self-paced online format (learn on your schedule). Participants will be invited to gather virtually on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 pm Eastern for Q&A and facilitation on various social media topics.
Attendance at the live sessions is not required. All sessions will be recorded and made available in the learning portal within a day after the session. The entire content of the course will remain available to registered users for three months from the course start date.
Participants will also be prompted to read articles, watch videos, and interact on a discussion board. The course will include an emphasis on applying what trainees learn along the way to make their church’s social media more engaging and meet communications goals.
Training highlights include:
-
- Week 1: The Big Picture—See how social media and metrics fit into your church’s communications.
- Week 2: The Plan—Develop a social media calendar to help keep your branding and communications consistent.
- Week 3: The Practice—Create engaging content that captures the audience’s attention.
- Week 4: The Practicalities—Review or develop your church’s social media policy, including legal and ethical compliance.
Upon completion, Revitalize Your Church’s Social Media participants will receive a certificate of completion and 2.0 CEUs awarded by the United Methodist Communications Training Center.
“Most churches use social media to share events, which is great, but there are often missed opportunities for richer engagement with followers,” said Senior Training and Development Specialist Kelly Tracy. “We’ve designed this course to give local churches concrete, doable strategies to audit and level up their social media presence.”
