Protection Policy input requested

The Michigan Area Protection Transition Task Force invites feedback as policies are formulated.

The Michigan Conference Protection Policy sets safety boundaries for all connectional ministries in the new Michigan Conference. Connectional ministries include those related to and sponsored by the conference or districts of the conference. The conference is not binding for local congregations, but local congregations are strongly encouraged to create their own protection policies. Local churches may use the conference policy as a beginning template for creating their own protection polices for care givers, care providers and the congregation as a whole.

At this time The Michigan Area Protection Transition Task Forces invites all United Methodist affiliates in the state to review the proposed Protection Policy for the Michigan Conference. Those examining the policy are also asked to invite their ministry colleagues to review the documents, as well.

The Protection Transition Task Force of The Michigan Area is made up of members of both the Detroit and West Michigan Conference committees. Comments, questions, observations, reflections and suggestions should be sent to the Protection Task Force in care of Naomi García at [email protected] or PO Box 6247 Grand Rapids MI 40516-6247.

Please send input by January 31, 2017.
