Paul F. Blomquist

September 10, 1932 to March 19, 2023

Rev. Paul Blomquist, 90, of Clarkston MI, passed away on March 19, 2023.

Paul is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beatrice and his three sons Chris (Maureen), Mark (Melissa) and Craig (Liz) as well as his grandchildren Kate and Andrew and brother David (Bonnie). He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Thelma Blomquist, and two of his brothers, Richard and Peter.

Paul was born in Boston, MA but traveled to the midwest to attend Garrett Theological Seminary to become a United Methodist minister. While working at a summer camp, he met his wife Bea. He became a respected, well-loved minister who served in many churches throughout his career and also served as Superintendent of the Flint District UMC. His last church before retirement was Orchard United Methodist in Farmington Hills, MI. Everywhere he went he was sure to meet someone he had touched during his time as a UMC pastor.

After retirement, Paul enjoyed spending quiet time with his wife Bea at home or at their cottage. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Even at the end of his life, he was more concerned about other people than himself. Paul loved spending quality time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was a wonderful grandfather. He watched every sports match, every band concert, and other school events with a smile on his face. He was an avid Red Sox fan, who passed that love down to his sons and grandchildren. He spent years cultivating meaningful relationships with his family and will be missed terribly.

At Paul’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Paul was committed to helping those in need throughout his life. His favorite Christmas gifts were donations to charity in his name. Given his generosity, we ask that people who were touched by Paul’s love consider donating to their favorite charity in memory of him and his life.

Condolences may be sent to Beatrice Blomquist, 2896 Birchwood Dr., Waterford, MI 48329.
