Faith and pop culture come together in a new spring TV series, “The Story of God.”
Those watching cable TV these days have likely seen a trailer for a program called, “The Story of God.”
Hosted by Morgan Freeman, the six-part series premiered on April 3 on the National Geographic Channel.
These programs are not intended to be theological or evangelical in nature. They are simply one man wondering and wandering about the transcendent in life. Freeman’s focuses on how spirituality is explored and expressed by people around the globe.
Bishop Wayne Miller of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America points out that not only is there a great diversity of beliefs among world religions, but also within each religion. “I’ve always found that one of the great values of a program like this is not that it answers all the questions but that it invites us to open the questions and continue the conversation,” Miller said.
