McCartney, James

James (Jim) McCartney, 88 died Sunday, November 29, 2015. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary B. McCartney in 2010.

Jim served the West Michigan Conference in various capacities. He was a former President of the Council on Finance and Administration, and Chair of the Board of Pension and Health Benefits, a current member of the Audit Committee and member of the Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministries for the West Michigan Conference.  He served on the Audit Committee of the General Council of Finance and Administration. He will be remembered as well for his service as Chair of the Asbury Foundation. In addition to his many roles on boards and committees, Jim was a long-time member and contributor to United Methodist Churches & Charities, in particular the United Methodist Wesley Foundation. His support of United Methodist programs and causes reflects the legacy of his love and commitment to the United Methodist Church. His passing will be mourned.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m, at the Estes Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel located at 325 W. Washtenaw St, Lansing, MI 48933. The service will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Lansing Asbury UMC, 2200 Lake Lansing Rd, Lansing, MI 48912 (517) 484-5794.

An obituary will be published in the Lansing State Journal on Sunday December 13, and will be available at a later date on the Estes Leadley Funeral Home website: http://estesleadley.com/
