The Hymnal Revision Committee is asking creative people to submit new materials for possible inclusion in the next UM Hymnal.
The Liturgical Resources subgroup of the Hymnal Revision Committee invites the submission of original materials for possible inclusion in the next United Methodist Hymnal. The collection of liturgical and music resources will be presented to the 2024 General Conference for approval.
While all worship-related resources are welcome at any time, the Committee particularly invites the submission of the following resources:
- Baptism
- Confirmation
- Renewal of Baptism
- Days and Seasons of the Church Year
If at all possible, please submit material electronically. Deadline for submitting these materials is June 30, 2019. Click here for instructions for submission of resources.
The office will acknowledge receipt of all submissions but will not return any hard copy of materials submitted. If materials are chosen for inclusion in the new United Methodist Hymnal, the office will contact the submitter regarding permissions and contracts at the appropriate time.
In designated years, there will be specific requests for additional submissions related to:
- 2019: care of the sick and dying, death, and occasional services
- 2020: Word and Table and the Psalter
- 2021: weddings, domestic liturgy, and daily prayer
