Have you subscribed to Michigan Area Facebook page and @MichiganUMC Twitter feed? Don’t wait.
In response to feedback from Listening Sessions across the Michigan Area, the Communications Team has been at work for two years reformatting to tell the story of faithful disciples transforming the world.
First was the publication of a state-wide version of MIConnect emailed to nearly 10,000 persons every week.
Then the former Detroit Conference and West Michigan Conference websites were brought together in a single site MichiganUMC.org.
Now our Social Media–Facebook and Twitter–will be re-introduced on May 1. After that date all of the state’s United Methodist news will present on one Facebook Page: Michigan Area Facebook page. All tweets will be made @MichiganUMC. The present Facebook pages and Twitter feeds for the West Michigan and Detroit conferences will be retired on April 30.
What does this mean? It you currently following the Detroit Conference and the West Michigan Conference on Facebook, please begin to follow and “LIKE” the Michigan Area on Facebook and Twitter. That way your flow of online news will move forward uninterrupted on May1, 2016.
Please note. The Facebook Groups for the Michigan Area and West Michigan Conference will continue after May 1. Unlike the Facebook Page that provides official information posted by the Michigan Area Communications Team, the Facebook Groups allow any member of the group to post. Both Pages and Groups provide a forum for interaction and each have value for connecting individuals, organizations and congregations with each other.
We also hope you will take the time to read our Social Media posting policy with the hope that we will use this tool to do good, stay in love with God, and do no harm.
The aim of the Communication Team is not simply to inform but to inspire, resource and build community. Please let us know how we are doing by sending us a message at [email protected].
