Those affected by mid-state flooding will soon receive relief supplies from UMCOR.
Torrential rainfall overnight June 22nd flooded a swath across central Lower Michigan. The heaviest rain fell in an area from Mount Pleasant to the Bay City area.
The high water affected over 2,000 homes in Midland, MI. United Methodist churches in the city are partnering with the Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) to provide relief.
According to Becky Jenkins, Disaster Response Coordinator for the Saginaw Bay District, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has approved their request for 500 Cleaning Buckets and 200 Health Kits.
The drop-off site is the Midland County ESA, 3917 N. Jefferson Avenue, Midland. Drew Talbott, Midland 1st UMC volunteer, plans to be at the ESA site on Friday, July 7th to coordinate distribution of supplies.
Watch the Facebook page of the Saginaw Bay District for a call for volunteers for off-loading on Thursday and for the hours materials may be picked up on Friday.
The supplies are being packed and shipped from the Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Chatham, IL.
