Bridging the gap

As others unpacked in their campus dorms, 3 WMU students moved to Clark Retirement Community.

“This is much nicer than my dorm room,” Collett Chapp said of the residential room at Clark on Keller Lake Retirement Community in Kentwood.

Chapp, along with two other grad students, is part of an immersion program believed to be the first of its kind in the U.S.

“They will spend the next 19 months living with and studying a group most of us will be a part of one day: the 65 and older crowd,” said WOODTV in a newscast on August 29. And their new neighbors, the Clark residents, expect the learning to go both ways.
