Avoiding pastor burnout

Information nor inspiration is enough. Pastors need to turn congregations into perspiration.

“The New Testament doesn’t emphasize the role of pastor nearly as much as our current church structure does.” That’s how Karl Vaters begins his article in a recent article for Christianity Today.

Vaters goes on to list four ways to act as an “equipping pastor”:

  1. Preach to equip, not inform or inspire
  2. Do ministry with people, not just for them
  3. Equip teams, don’t appoint committees
  4. Involve the team in the decision making process.
