Asian-American Panel May 31, 2018

The Committee on Asian-American Ministry of The Michigan Conference (COAAM) invites all interested persons to join them for dinner on May 31, 600-7:30 pm Grand Traverse Resort.

“Building Relationships with our Diverse Asian Neighbors ” is the theme of a panel discussion during mealtime.

Guest panelists include:

  • Senator Hoon-Yung Hopgood, layman from TroyHope Ministry. Topic–demographics of Asian-Americans in Michigan. Political challenges on immigration of Asian Americans and ways churches can support, serve and address these challenges;
  • Rev. William W. Chu, MSU Wesley Foundation Director and Campus Pastor. Topic–Missional challenges and opportunities with international and also Asian-American students on campus;
  • Rev. Nhan (Nathan) Nguyen, pastor at the Vietnamese UM Fellowship. Topic–Opportunities and challenges of serving an immigrant Vietnamese church and community;
  • Rev. Jinny Song, Children’s Ministry pastor at Troy Korean UMC. Topic — Children’s Ministry in Korean Church settings with Asian-American and Korean immigrants.
