Albion College seeks chaplain

Albion College is seeking a Chaplain. This is a part-time, 9.5 month (August – mid May) position. The Chaplain will enhance a comprehensive student development program within a residential campus consistent with the mission and goals of Albion College, Division of Student Affairs, Global Diversity Unit, and Office of the Chaplain.

Job Description:  responsibilities include to:
  • provide thoughtful and pro-active leadership to develop a faith community,
  • nurture students’ faith, spirituality, morality, and vocation in a holistic and inclusive student life experience,
  • provide direction for student religious organizations,
  • provide pastoral care and crisis prevention, intervention, and management,
  • collaborate with the ministries of the United Methodist Church and other faith traditions
  • perform general retention functions especially with at-risk and under-represented students.
Qualifications Include:
  • An ordained Christian minister with significant post-seminary experience, a Master’s degree in Divinity, and experience in and appreciation of global, intercultural, and domestic diversity are required.
  • Clinical Pastoral Education training is desirable.
  • Possess a deep personal faith, be open to diverse beliefs, and be ecumenical and interfaith in both vision and attitude.
  • Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and ability to communicate in a manner that reflects the best interests of Albion College.
  • Ability to anticipate and prevent crises when possible and manage crises.
  • Appreciation and support for liberal arts education and enthusiasm for teaching and learning that goes beyond the classroom.
