Mary E. Ten Have
Mary Etta Ten Have of IN, formerly of Eaton Rapids, was carried by the angels into heaven on August 31, 2019 at the age of 91. Mary was born in Howell, MI, November 7, 1927, the daughter of Alfred and Helen (Whittaker) Shaffier and foster daughter of C. Earl and Ruth Champlin. She was an affiliate member of the First United Methodist Church in Eaton Rapids, Trinity United Methodist Church in Zephyrhills, FL and a current member of Clinton First United Methodist Church. Mary was also a member of the Eaton Rapids Holiness Camp Meeting, was active in church leadership and the Climax Women’s Study Club. She was a devoted wife and mother and spent her life caring for countless individuals. She was a licensed practical nurse, a 4-H leader, and briefly served as a local pastor in the late 1950’s, and continued to serve the church and its members throughout her life.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Charles) Kissack of TX, Katherine (Thomas) Davis of IN, Helen (David) Jones of Haslett; son, Milton (Tammy) Ten Have of Riverdale; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Wynema Wright of TN, Lula Joan Iler, and foster sister Edith Elaine Champlin (Lyman Paul) Webster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Milton Ten Have (retired Michigan Conference elder), parents; brothers, Alfred Jr., George and Frankie; sisters Betty Jean Watters, Irene Huskinson, foster brother Donald Champlin and a son, Harold Ten Have.
Funeral services were held on Monday September 2, 2019 at the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel in Eaton Rapids. Interment took place in Riverside Cemetery in Saugatuck. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Clinton First United Methodist Church or the Eaton Rapids Holiness Camp.
