Interested in serving on one of The United Methodist Church’s general boards or agencies? The Michigan Conference seeks a diverse pool of candidates to submit for consideration. Send your name by June 21.
At the 2024 Michigan Annual Conference, the delegation to general and jurisdictional conference announced that each annual conference must submit a list of nominees to the secretary of the General Conference. The North Central Jurisdiction (NCJ) Nominations Committee will use this list of names to fill positions on United Methodist general boards and agencies. The delegation noted that the instructions for submitting this list were received recently, so there is a sense of urgency in completing this task. Please submit your name (click this link) by June 21 to be considered for this opportunity.
During the upcoming North Central Jurisdictional Conference, set for July 10-13, 2024, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the NCJ Nominations Committee will nominate people to serve on the following general boards and agencies: Connectional Table, General Board of Church and Society, General Board of Discipleship, General Board of Global Ministries, General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, General Board of Pension and Health Benefits, The United Methodist Publishing House, Office of Christian Unity and Interreligious Relationships, General Commission on Communication, General Commission on Religion and Race, and General Commission on the Status and Role of Women. Please note that each board and agency has a limited number of positions allocated to the NCJ, so Michigan will have an even smaller number available.
The Michigan Conference’s general and jurisdictional conference delegation, in collaboration with our bishop, the director of connectional ministries, and the officers of the Conference Leadership Council, are asking those interested in being part of a diverse pool of Michigan Conference nominees to complete the required form by June 21. Laity and clergy of the Michigan Conference are invited to submit their names for consideration in the nomination process. To ensure diversity, categories of ethnicity, age, gender, lay/clergy status, LGBTQ+ identity, and persons with disabilities will be considered. The Michigan Conference hopes interested leaders will discern how God is calling them to serve on our United Methodist Church’s general boards and agencies and shape the denomination’s future.
