The Haiti Hot Lunch Program continues to feed 20,000 school children with Michigan’s help.

For about 20 years, the Michigan Area Haiti Task Force has supported the Haiti School Lunch Program, which feeds more than 20,000 children several times each week in Eglise Methodiste Schools throughout Haiti.
Projects now underway in support of the program include:
- building sustainability through the development of school gardens and encouraging the development of local agriculture
- improvement of kitchen facilities (in conjunction with Islam Relief) – changing from polluting, charcoal-fueled stoves and ovens to ones that are propane-fueled)
- health, hygiene and nutrition education for students. Water filters are being installed within, or near, schools, and sanitary toilet facilities are being added.
United Methodist Volunteer in Mission teams are constructing and improving school buildings where the hot lunches are served.
All of this is being made possible by donations to the “Haiti Hot Lunch Program,” Advance # 418790.
United Methodist churches are encouraged to include Haiti Hot Lunch in their mission efforts. These children depend upon it; look at their faces!
